Minimally Invasive and

Noninvasive Facial Enhancement

So you are interested in facial rejuvenation and enhancement? There are a variety of noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments we offer. The magnitude of the treatments requires a bit of explanation and a bit of sorting. The section below seeks to divide the treatments for you in different ways that will make sense to the novice. The treatments can be combined to achieve a natural looking result without extensive treatment recovery period. When you are ready, you can meet with our nurse injector for a complimentary consultation. If you would like to meet with M.R. Khalifeh, MD, he can give you a comprehensive facial plan according to your goals, and the consultation fee of $150 can be applied towards those treatments.

The Wrinkle Relaxers

Wrinkle relaxers are derived from botulism toxin which has an effect on the muscle-nerve junction. When injected in that region, the muscle is paralyzed for approximately three months. This helps the body eliminates the creases that have formed as a result of repeated muscle activity. These muscles are the frontalis for the forehead lines, the obicularis oculi for the smile line, and the glabellar area muscles for the frown “elevens” lines. The current wrinkle relaxers on the market are Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. Their effect is very similar, and there is not superiority between one relaxer and another as long as appropriate doses are done. The wrinkle relaxers typically are repeated every three months, although many people go longer than that between treatments.

The Volume Restorers

The family of volume restorers are a group of substances designed to fill lines and stay in the body for 9-15 months after injection. The most popular family is derived from hyaloronic acid, which is a substance normally found in human tissue. There are different formulations of the hyaluronic acid, giving each filler a slightly different property. Popular brand names for hyaluronic acids are Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Belotero. The hyaloronic acids last about 9 months in general.

The second group of volume restorers are derived of calcium hydroxyapetite. This restorer is named Radiesse. Like hyaloaronic acid, this substance is also present in the human body and therefore is very well tolerated by the body. The main area treated with Radiesse is deep nasolabial folds, and the advantage is that the filling effect lasts about 15 months. ;Radiesse can be used for deeper filling such as mandibular contour or cheek contour. Radiesse is not ideal for more superficial uses, where the hyaloronic derived fillers are better.

The Resurfacing Treatments

This is a family of treatments designed to stimulate the skin to heal and to build collagen, or to eliminate skin blemishes. The best way to divide these treatments are by depth. In general, superficial treatments will have a quick recovery, but not as much effect on deeper lines, whereas deeper treatments will have a longer recovery but greater effects. In general, a skin regimen consisting of a deeper to medium treatment once a year and superficial treatments every few months will have the best effect in maintaining your skin tone.
