What can I expect during thigh lift surgery?
Our Northern Virginia thigh lift is performed on an outpatient basis in our in-office operating suite, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). For a medial thigh lift, the procedure is completed in approximately three hours.
An extended thigh lift is most often performed in the hospital and requires about five hours to complete. Most patients may elect to stay overnight in the hospital after an extended thigh lift, but this can be tailored to your specific case after you meet with Dr. Khalifeh.
What is the recovery time? What should I expect?
The recovery period differs between a medial thigh lift and an extended thigh lift. With both procedures, you can expect some swelling in the postoperative period. Within three to six days following your procedure, Dr. Khalifeh will see you for your first post-operative visits, to ensure your recovery is proceeding as it should.
For a medial thigh lift, plan for a week off of work or other activities. For an extended thigh lift, two weeks off of work is needed, although you may recover more quickly. You may have a drain used to remove postoperative fluid; this is generally removed about ten days after surgery.
