Inverted Nipple Correction
Inverted nipple correction:
Patients present sometimes with inverted nipples that bother them cosmetically.
Inverted nipple correction is a procedure that can help correct inverted nipples, and it can be done in 1 hour under local anesthesia.
The steps involved are to make a small 1.5-2 cm incision around the areola, and free the tissues that are pulling the nipple downward. After the procedure, a specialized pull-bolster is applied to hold the nipple upward during the healing period.
This bolster must be worn for 5-7 days, and can hide under a loose shirt or sweater. The pain is minimal. The recovery is one day to return to work and about 1 week to return to normal activity. The procedure may interfere with the ability to breast feed, and may interfere with the nipple sensation. Other risks are bleeding and infection. Overall, this is a very safe operation. The cost is approximately $1,800 for both nipples.
This is the result after inverted nipple correction.
