Male Fat Transfer Operations
“Fat transfer operations have been increasing in popularity in the past ten years, and they became part of my practice since I openned my cosmetic surgery center in 2006. In the beginning, I limited my procedures to women’s buttocks using the brazilian buttock lift. This was mainly because women would come in requesting the procedure, but men would not, and I did not sugest it to them as I viewed it as a procedure distinct and separate from liposuction. As I increasingly saw of the amazing changes to the body that could be done in combination of fat transfer with liposuction, I began viewing fat transfer as a natural extention of my lipocontouring work.” M.R. How Fat Transfer is Done:
Fat transfer starts out with tumescent liposuction. In Tumescent liposuction, local anesthesia is injected (watch video), after which the fat is harvested with a suction cannulae into a sterile container. The fat is then separated from the excess fluid and oils and transferred into syringes which are then used to inject the fat in the area to be augmented. The fat takes a few weeks to heal.
Does Fat Grafting Last?About 30% of the fat or so is reabsorbed by the body, the rest becomes permanently embedded in the areas that it was transferred to.
