Facelift

Facelift

The most visible signs of aging first appear on your face. Wrinkles, fine lines, loss of volume, and sagging tissues can appear as early as your forties, affecting your self-confidence. While there’s no way to stop the passage of time, at DC Cosmetics, we address the effects of facial aging with an expertly performed facelift to restore the definition and elegance of youth.

What is a facelift?

A facelift corrects facial aging. Unlike temporary anti-aging treatments such as dermal fillers and neuromodulators, a facelift is a comprehensive facial rejuvenation treatment, treating the following:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Sagging cheeks
  • Jowls
  • Lost definition at jawline
  • Sagging skin/excess fat on upper neck

Facelifts for younger patients

For younger people who are experiencing facial aging on the lower face and neck, the technique favored by Dr. Khalifeh produces minimal scars, often referred to as a “mini facelift.” A mini facelift limits the treatment areas to the periauricular area (around the ear) and the submental area (beneath the chin), costs less, and is far less invasive.

In a mini facelift, Dr. Khalifeh will make targeted incisions that allow him to reposition and tighten the skin to:

  • Smooth away jowls
  • Correct mild skin laxity on the lower third of the face and upper neck
  • Smooth etched-in smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Restore youthful definition at the jawline
  • Remove a double chin
  • Smooth the upper neck area for a youthful look

Non-Surgical Alternatives
For Facial Rejuvenation

There are many excellent non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments that can reverse some (but not all) the signs of aging. While nothing can compare with the results of a surgical facelift, patients with select signs of aging can benefit from non-invasive treatments to delay the need or desire for Dr. Khalifeh's surgical facelift. These non-surgical options include:

Am I a Candidate?

Patients who are in good overall health and who have realistic expectations for the procedure typically make great facelift candidates. Because smoking constricts arteries and limits your body’s ability to heal which can lead to complications, smokers would need to cease for at least 2 weeks before and after the procedure. Otherwise, anyone experiencing the unwanted signs of aging such as wrinkles, lax facial skin and cheeks, and lost facial definition will likely benefit greatly from a facelift.

What Is Recovery Like After a Facelift?

After a facelift procedure, patients will typically require from 1 to 2 weeks off of work and other activities to allow for the smoothest healing process. Mild swelling and bruising will occur, and cold compresses, pain medication, and elevating the head will go a long way toward faster recovery. Patients will be given full post-operative healing instructions and have the chance to get all possible questions answered about healing and recovery.

Plastic surgery is both an art and a science, and the artistry involves carefully placing incisions so that the scarring is hidden. Dr. Khalifeh is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and knows how to provide the best possible results with the least amount of scarring.
